The Library Bee!

Do you love our bee?  We do too!  Have you heard the saying that the bee should not be able to fly based on it’s wing size vs it’s body size and weight?  We have, too, but we also know that bees do fly because God made them perfectly, just as he designed.  Likewise, there are people that think the children we love and serve should not be able to successfully engage in society, but they do - because God made them perfectly too!

Our mission is to nurture a love of reading in young children with disabilities by providing free, inclusive books that reflect their unique experiences. We believe every child deserves to see themselves represented in the stories they read. Through characters who share their challenges and strengths, we aim to foster belonging, build confidence, and spark imagination—because every child’s story matters.

Vision

We envision a future where all children with disabilities have equal access to books that reflect their identities and experiences. In this future, inclusive stories empower young readers to embrace their strengths, celebrate diversity, and recognize their limitless potential. By changing the stories children see, we aim to change the way the world sees children with disabilities—fostering empathy, acceptance, and belonging for generations to come.

How Can You Get Involved?

Sign Up To
Receive Books!

Families with children ages 0-21 who have disabilities can subscribe through our website. Once you're signed up, we'll match your child with books that feature characters they can relate to — stories that celebrate their experiences, challenges, and dreams. Each registered child will receive 1 book 4 times throughout the year.  Books are sent out on January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15!

Want even more books? We also provide easy links where you can purchase additional titles if you'd like — with a portion of those sales eventually helping support our mission, too!

Each child will receive a selection of up to 10 thoughtfully chosen books throughout the year, completely free, thanks to the generosity of our donors. These books are designed to reflect and affirm your child's unique story.
